STOATES BARN, SELWORTHY
Ware Construction undertook the full refurbishment of this dilapidated barn on behalf of the National Trust shortly after completing a full programme of refurbishment on the neighbouring farmhouse.
The barn was in a sorry state when we took on the contract and was in need of major repairs to all parts of the structure including the stone walls, internal timbers including the roof sections and finally the thatched roof itself was covered by some sorry looking tarpaulins! A full covered scaffold was erected and work began to strip the existing building.
Using our own team of stonemasons and carpenters, we transformed the property and put it back to something resembling its original condition. The final touch was to employ a local firm who we have worked with on a number of different projects, to re-thatch the barn.
We handed back the project to the National Trust, who were delighted with the end result.
